When it comes to entertainment, a majority of people think of TV shows, music, social media, games, parties, etc. In contrast, Reading is somewhat different from the things mentioned above. In the first place, people do reading at the time they have to study, or they are forced to study. I have no clue whether they thoroughly enjoy the reading for pleasure. Furthermore, how many teenagers still persist in reading to enrich their mind under so many distractions? Not so many as we see.

On the basis of the NOP World Culture Score Index, India is the country that reads the most, with over 10 hours per week. Thailand and China are second and third, with 9.24 and 8 hours per week respectively.
We can see that the American and European spend much less time than the Orient. And the trend may keep going on and the gap is even getting larger. We need to reflect that what made this happen and how it comes. We are losing the majority of the new generation. They will not achieve anything close to their potential because of poor reading. A reading appeal should be run to build up the reading habit again for our generation, shouldn’t it?
