Every day, hundreds of users share their reading, note-taking and multi-tasking experience with BOOX E Ink tablets on social media. Some posts gained dozens of thumbs up because they resonated with many others. However, social media is limited in in-depth content conveyance and retention. Many awesome posts are alive for only weeks or even one day. They get buried in the timeline and get harder to surface as time passes by.
Excellent stories and posts don’t have to be ephemeral. They deserve preservation and better sharing. This is why we’re inviting you to join our Medium publication BOOX Content Hub.
In this invite:
· How this program gets started
· Why Medium over other platforms
· What we’re looking for
∘ The topics that are open to writing about
∘ What kind of articles will be accepted and published
∘ And a few guidelines
· How to apply for entry and submit articles
· What will happen after article submission
How we get started
Since the World Book Day Event 2021, we started inviting BOOX users to share how they use their BOOX device. With the theme “Write A Book Review,” we’ve got two talented writers, David and Diptyajit, to share their insightful book reviews with us. They finished the books on their BOOX Nova2 and Nova3 and had a fantastic reading journey, which is also our pleasure to serve our users to read a wider world.
You can now read “The Lean Startup on an Onyx Boox” by Davidwhitfield and “Book Review : The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle” by shootsWideOpen in BOOX Content Hub.
With this awesome beginning, we’ve gained confidence in building an article-based sharing community in Medium. If you’re interested in sharing your use case with other BOOX users, then you’re the writers we’re looking for.
Why Medium?
Writing on Medium has several benefits. And that’s why we want to meet excellent writers like you here.
- Medium is a text-oriented channel where ideas in your copy make you stand out. It doesn’t require aesthetic photos and multiple tags. It sometimes just needs a catchy title and a good piece of content.
- Medium doesn’t have word limitation. You can spill out your ideas with thousands of characters. If you love writing, Medium is like a pen that never lacks ink and a paper that never has an edge.
- Medium has an aesthetic layout and is easy to use. If you don’t know how to edit the layout to make your article more organized, Medium has done that for you.
- Your article will get a chance to appear on the front page of the search engine. And it will never die as long as people search its keyword.
- And, if you’re interested, you can check Medium Partner Program to see how Medium gets valuable content paid off.
What to write?
Here’re the topics that are open to writing about in BOOX Content Hub:
- Book review. Write a review about a book you read on BOOX.
- Book reading/note-taking/multi-tasking experience. Share how you like reading and taking notes with BOOX and using the split-screen or other BOOX features.
- Your daily/work/WFH/study/teaching routine with BOOX. Share how you make BOOX into your work/study flow. And your tips and tricks of using BOOX.
If you want to add more topics, you can leave a reply in this article or send your suggestions to socialmedia@onyx-international.com.
How to get articles accepted and published?
To apply for your article being published in our publication, you’re suggested to:
- Include at least three original pictures of BOOX devices. For instance, your book review article needs to include at least three original images of your BOOX tablet displaying the reviewed book or other related content.
- Use high-quality images from free, open platforms like Unsplash and Pexels. Use images correctly can convey your ideas better. And beautiful graphs make texts even more appealing. If you use authorized copyrighted pictures, you’ll need to refer to the author in the image caption.
- Make a good title and subtitle. You can edit your display title and subtitle via Settings>Change Display Title/Subtitle.
- Use an aesthetic, high-resolution image as the first picture in your post. Normally, it’ll become your featured image. And a high-quality, beautiful featured image in the thumbnail view will attract more readers to click into your story. You can edit it at Settings>Change Featured Image.
- Use headings in your post. Try to make those headings catchy too.
- Use more paragraphs to separate long clutters of sentences. This can make your article more readable.
- Make sense in semantics and grammar. You don’t need to make your articles 100% grammatically correct. But there’s no harm to use tools, like Hemingway Editor and Grammarly, to make your content more reader-friendly.
And a few guidelines
- Quality over clickbait. Don’t need to write a long post or name the article with a cheesy title. Instead, share your true feelings, which will bring like-minded readers for you.
- Original content.
- No promotions and sales.
- No hate speech, personal attack and racism. And do not post offensive, sexual, discriminatory and political content.
- If sharing a feature request or a bug report, share it with BOOX first.
This can be done through 1) the feedback submission built in the device (Settings>Feedback), 2) feedback feature at push.boox.com (feedback button is beside the avatar), or 3) our online form. BOOX Content Hub does not handle any feature requests and bug reports. Requests and reports will have a real effect if they’re shared correctly. - No sharing of BOOX referral links.
How to apply for the writer and submit articles?
- Read the content requirements and publication guidelines above carefully.
- Write an article on Medium and publish it.
- Send the article link to socialmedia@onyx-international.com to apply for entry to BOOX Content Hub.
- We’ll review your article to see if it obeys our requirements and guidelines. And we’ll get back to you within three working days.
- If your article passes the review, we’ll invite you as the writer of BOOX Content Hub. And you can edit your article to submit it to our publication.
After submitting articles
Once you click “save and publish,” you’ve submitted your articles to the publications. And we’ll get a notification like this:
Then, we’ll do the following things:
- We won’t edit your articles.
- But we’ll probably add an Editor’s Note on the top or the bottom of your story to introduce our Write About BOOX program.
- We’ll also add tags to your stories to make them align with our publication settings.
- At last, we’ll schedule a publish time for your excellent article.
After you become the writer of BOOX Content Hub, you don’t need to send your article link to our email anymore. Just submit your article, and we’ll review it to see if it can be published.
You can edit your published article anytime. But please be aware of the guidelines. We’ll review posts at a scheduled frequency to see if there’s anything breaks the rules.
Also, you’re free to remove your articles (which will sadden us ; ;) from our publication. But before you do so, you’re welcome to write an email to communicate your reasons. We’d love to hear from you and respect your decision.
